Sedgebrook Hall Wedding Photographer

Updated: 1 day ago
Sedgebrook Hall in Chapel Brampton, just outside Northampton, is a Victorian manor house in 13 acres of grounds, with an Oak Suite that holds up to 120 guests for a ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 200 for the evening. Laura & Ben had their September wedding at Sedgebrook Hall, and had both their ceremony and reception in the Oak Suite. Their ceremony and reception both took place in the Oak Suite, and the evening came with a surprise ice cream stand and face painting that started off for the children, though the adults were even more excited than the kids.
This is how their day went, plus the things I'd want you to know if you're planning your own.
Photographing a wedding at Sedgebrook Hall
Sedgebrook Hall is a Victorian manor house in 13 acres of grounds, with newer wedding spaces built alongside it. That mix is what makes it good to photograph. You get period features inside, open lawn outside, and a pagoda for ceremonies in the garden, all on one site. Nobody has to be bundled into a car to get a variety of backgrounds.
The venue coordinators were brilliant on Laura & Ben's day. They kept everything on track, and we worked together so the couple got everything they wanted, both in how the day ran and in the photographs. When the venue team and the photographer are talking to each other, the day feels calm, and you can see it in the pictures.

A first look with Dad

Laura & Ben hadn't booked me for full getting ready, but they added an extra hour at the start so Laura could have a first look with her dad. That hour turned out to be one of my favourite decisions of the day. It meant I also caught Laura getting into her dress, which is a moment couples often assume they'll miss if they don't book the whole morning.
If you're getting ready at Sedgebrook Hall and you're on a shorter package, an extra hour at the start is worth thinking about. It's small, it's flexible, and it can give you the moments you'd otherwise miss.
The staircase, the pagoda and the lawn

Sedgebrook has a staircase that's part of the original house. Laura walked down it on her way to the ceremony, and I took the opportunity to capture her bridal portraits as she went. They're completely candid, because I knew that's what Laura preferred over fully posed portraits. It's one of those spots that does half the work for you: the framing and the sense of occasion are already there.
For the rest of the portraits we used the pagoda and the lawn. The pagoda is Sedgebrook's outdoor ceremony space, licensed for up to 120 guests, and even if your ceremony is indoors it's a lovely spot for couple photos. The lawn gives you space for group photos too, without anyone feeling squashed.
Photographing the Oak Suite

The Oak Suite is Sedgebrook's largest wedding space. It holds up to 120 guests for a ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 200 for the evening, and it's r
ight next to the main lounge and bar. Laura & Ben had their ceremony and reception in it.
The room is lit mainly by ceiling lights, with little natural light, so make sure you have a photographer who knows how to work in these conditions to get beautiful photos.

The face-painted dancefloor
Laura & Ben had face painting for their evening, and honestly, it's one of the most unique and fun things I've seen at a wedding. It started mainly for the children, but you know the adults had to get involved as well, and within no time the dancefloor was full of people with painted faces, laughing at each other.
Those are exactly the photographs I'm hoping for at any wedding. Not staged, not planned, just a room full of people properly enjoying themselves.
What Laura & Ben said
"We got married last September and Ella was amazing, we honestly couldn't of asked for a better photographer! Patient, friendly so professional, we are in love with the photos Ella took of our special day, thank you sooo much 💕" — Laura
Choosing a Sedgebrook Hall wedding photographer
If you're getting married at Sedgebrook, here's what I'd look for.
Look at how a photographer handles low light. Look at whether they've worked with the venue team, as that makes the timeline smoother. And pick someone you'll actually enjoy having around, because they'll be with you for most of the day.
I shoot a blend of documentary and editorial, which means I spend most of the day watching and waiting, and I only step in when it helps. All of my wedding packages are available at Sedgebrook Hall. My Essential and Deluxe packages are the most popular, and you can see what's included on my wedding packages page. If you'd like to know how I work on the day, The Experience explains it.
