Leighton Buzzard Golf Club Wedding Photographer

Gemma & Russell got married at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club in September, and I was lucky enough to be their photographer. Blue skies, wide open greens and a team at the club who looked after us brilliantly.
They booked my intimate wedding photography package, which includes two hours of coverage: the ceremony, group photos and couple portraits. Here's how that time played out.

Before the ceremony
I arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony started, which is part of the two hours of coverage. That gave me time to take some candids and introduce myself to Gemma & Russell and the registrars. I always like to do this before anything begins, so everyone knows who I am and where I'll be standing.
The ceremony and congratulations
The ceremony itself was 30 minutes. Afterwards, because Gemma & Russell weren't doing a confetti photo, I gave them 15 minutes to have a drink and enjoy congratulations from their guests while I took candids of it all.
Golf club wedding group photos on the green

Next came the group photos, which we gave 20 minutes. Let's start with the staff, because they deserve their own paragraph. The team at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club were spectacular. They escorted me and all of the guests out onto the green to protect us from any golf balls that might go astray. (The golf is still happening while you're getting married. It's a golf club!)
The club also has dedicated areas on the course for wedding photos, and they even gave me a map of the best spots. It's a small thing, but it meant I wasn't wandering around guessing, and the group photos ran smoothly because everyone was looked after.
Couple portraits across the greens
Once the groups were done, it was just Gemma, Russell and me wandering out across the greens for their couple portraits. We had 15 minutes, beautiful blue skies and impressive green space in every direction, which makes for very easy portraits.
I always start by asking couples to do something simple: walk together, like you do every day. The course was perfect for it. There's so much room that you forget anyone is watching, and the photos end up feeling like you, not like you're posing.

Candids with their guests
There are some lovely woods just across the road from the club, and I'd have happily taken Gemma & Russell over there. We decided to skip them this time and spend that time on candids with their guests instead. Because their ceremony and reception were both at the club, they chose to shorten their couple portraits for this, which is only possible when the ceremony and reception are at the same venue. It's the kind of natural moment I wouldn't normally have time for in the intimate package, and it meant their guests were part of the photos too.
Between the ceremony, congratulations, group photos, couple portraits and candids, it all fit comfortably into the two hours.

A few questions couples ask
Can you take wedding photos on the golf course at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club?
Yes. The club has dedicated areas on the course for wedding photos, and they gave me a map of the best spots. The staff also escort the group out onto the green to keep everyone safe from stray golf balls.
What does a two-hour wedding photography timeline look like at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club?
For Gemma & Russell, the two hours started with me arriving 30 minutes before the ceremony for candids. Then came a 30 minute ceremony, 15 minutes of drinks and congratulations, 20 minutes of group photos and 15 minutes of couple portraits. They chose to shorten their couple portraits, so the remaining time went on candids with their guests.
Can we have candid photos with our guests as well as couple photos?
With most of my packages - absolutely yes! With my intimate package, you do get some candids but this is often reduced to prioritise group shots and couple photos, but if the ceremony and reception are at the same venue, couples can choose to reduce their couple portrait time and use it for candids with their guests. Just let me know in advance and we'll plan it together.
Do you photograph weddings at other venues near Leighton Buzzard?
Yes. I'm based in Milton Keynes and photograph weddings across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
